Owning a big bike

July 10th, 2006 md No comments

Many people have many dreams. One of those dreams could be owning a big motorbike. It gives sheer pleasure riding this big machine on the road (at least I felt that :-) )

For those who drive to work in busy city streets, you got to have more patience than the bike riders. At times, big bike riders also have to queue like cars in certain siuation. That is not so “cool” when you are stuck in traffic jam and your body get sweating all over, and ambient temparature getting high.

In Malaysia, owning a big bike is quite costly. You have to fork extra money to pay the tax especially for the 500CC and above bikes. So, when I read the news in local newspaper that a company had brave themselves to sell big bikes with “local branding”, it stir the emotion to start dreaming again :-)

Way to go Naza Bikes !

Chain Maintenance

July 5th, 2006 md No comments

Bikes with final drive that uses chain need regular maintenance. For me, every 300KM, I will lube my bike’s chain. I use Silkolene sillicon gel chain spray. It seems “stick” on the chain better than Castrol chain lube. Sometimes, I also apply extra engine oil (after normal service) onto the sprocket gear and spin the rear wheel for while to ensure the oil/chain lube reach all the areas (O-ring, grips, etc.)

How should we apply the chain lube onto the chain ring? take a look at the photo below to have some idea.

We also need to check the chain tension. Don’t let it too loose OR too tight. Take a look at the picture below to check your bike’s chain tension.

Hopes this might helps.
